Arts Projects

Bristol 2014 commissioned a series of arts projects funded through Arts Council England.

Some of the projects were included as part of the Royal West of England Academy programme Back From the Front; some were displayed elsewhere; some were in publications or used in talks and presentations. Many of the artists appeared at First World War Day: The Bristol 2014 Arts Projects event in Watershed on 15 November. You can hear audio recordings of their presentations  HERE.

Part of the Arts Council England-funded arts projects included working closely with the University of the West of England students at Bower Ashton. They have produced a series of posters inspired by the Bristol 2014 programme, commemorating Bristol at war, which can be viewed on the website, have been displayed at the RWA and have featured in our marketing material.

You can download a free e-book, Back from the Front: Art, Memory and the Aftermath of War, which features most of the Bristol 2014 artist commissions from ISSUU.
